B&N Food Market

Have you ever met anyone that you just knew was destined to be where they are? We found that in Baghdad, Kentucky at the B&N Food Market.

Buckshot is not only the owner, but the centerpiece of the market. His first day of work there was when he was just seven years old. He worked beside his grandfather, who had made the “Newt Burger” famous among the locals. (Outside you’ll notice a painted portrait of Newt on the building’s wall – a recent birthday gift to Buckshot.)

In his own right, Buckshot has now made his own claim to fame and is quickly becoming known statewide for his brisket. Which is hands down the most delicious, juicy, flavorful brisket we have ever, ever tasted in all of our travels. He is serious about the brisket. He is passionate about the brisket. He is proud of the brisket.

As he should be.

Are there other things you should try as well? Absolutely yes!  Actually we were treated to a tasting of most of the menu and there was nothing we didn’t love. His cornbread, greens, pinto beans, potato salad, macaroni and cheese – his turkey and pork chop, plus the original Newt Burger – all SO well done and so flavorful in their own right.

Make this is road trip destination all its own if you must – but when you’re near there is so much more to enjoy in Shelby County, Kentucky. From luxury shopping to horse farms, community arts to bourbon. You could spend days enjoying it all.
