Carriss’s Grocery
We had a blast at Carriss’s Grocery. The food was delicious, the atmosphere homey, and the locals welcoming. Vivian and June – the shopkeepers even let us peel a few potatoes around the kitchen table while we were waiting on our breakfast plates.
I mean, where else in the world does that happen?
The meats they serve are locally sourced and you can taste the 48 years of experience that goes into each plate. They know how to do it right and they don’t choose to do it any other way.
While we enjoyed breakfast, they are also widely known for their hamburgers and daily lunch specials. The day we were there – the special was hand-breaded pork chops and we snuck into the kitchen to watch them frying up in a much-loved electric skillet.
If you’re looking for quintessential Kentucky hospitality and delicious plates, hop in the car and head to Carriss’s in Shelby County.
