Convenient Food Mart
Some places feel like you’d see the entire community is just thirty minutes, and that is what can be said of the atmosphere created over decades at Convenient Food Mart near downtown Shelbyville, Kentucky. The regulars were on their way to work, to the office, and to school – including the Mayor, and a county magistrate that happened in.
Built in the 1960’s and run by the same family since, this quick stop has gas, cold drinks, and pick ups – plus some of the most delicious food. They serve quick staples and daily specials – we ate breakfast with them and it was the perfect start to the day. Their hashbrown casserole, BLT, plus biscuits and gravy were all fabulous.
While we didn’t grab a sandwich to go – we were super impressed with the looks of their grab and go sandwiches – SO big! Thick sliced bologna, pimento cheese, and more. Plus they had no-bake oatmeal cookies almost as big as a baseball!
When you’re near Convenient Food Mart, there is so much more to enjoy in Shelby County, Kentucky. From luxury shopping to horse farms, community arts to bourbon. You could spend days enjoying it all.
