Dining and Relaxing at West Baden Springs Hotel

Before you head to West Baden Springs Hotel for your night or two away, secure a dinner reservation at Sinclair’s – yes, this is your homework before getting there – you do not want to miss out. We’ve all tried several things from their menu through the years, but whatever you do, do not sleep on the Strawberry au Poivre dessert.  It is prepared for you tableside with flaming cognac and is a joy to watch with anticipation.

After dinner, snag a seat in the atrium and enjoy the light show on display via the atrium’s ceiling. If you have an atrium view room, you can also enjoy this from your private balcony – but we never find it quite as relaxing. There’s just something about being on the ground floor that makes it seem more grand. There are often musicians playing in the atrium, making this experience even more special.

Ballard’s in the Atrium is a casual dining option on site that is fabulous as well.  You cannot go wrong with lunch or dinner there.  Everything we have eaten on their menu has been something we would order again. They also offer special high tea times in the atrium, they can be reserved.  While we have never tried these, we are always envious of those who are enjoying the teas while we are there.

On weekend nights, do happen in to the library – where jazz ensembles are usually playing. The entire room often erupts into a lovely sing along experience.  Don’t forget to look for hidden notes in the books while you’re there.

A stroll around the gardens and grounds are always a good idea, as well as relaxing on the veranda. Take the rail trolley to French Lick if you would like to explore more of the resort. The trolley itself is a fun experience.
