Dovie’s

We went back to Monroe County with the ONE simple goal of getting a Dovie’s cheeseburger and we did it!!!

We had heard so much about Dovie’s and their fried burgers. We had heard that you might want to ask for a squeezed or double squeezed burger. But what we hadn’t heard about – that was just the star of the show for us – was their “special sauce.” When we asked about it, they explained that it is a mixture of mustard, ketchup, onions and pickles. It was SO wonderful on the cheeseburger! Also, in some places you find that have written about Dovie’s they mention that Dovie’s closes when the burgers sell out for the day, but that has changed – they stay open now with other sandwich options.  Also, a local suggested trying what she calls their “Dovie Puppy” – which is a hot dog cooked in the same burger oil – so there’s a beef/hot dog layering of flavor that happens. She said it shouldn’t be missed.

Their sweet tea was delicous and the bowls of snack cakes were just brilliant – because who can resist if there’s a Hostess Ding-Dong cake or Twinkie sitting right in front of you? Smart marketing for sure!
