Downtown Glasgow

Downtown Glasgow has become one of those small towns that we all hope to find. The picturesque downtown square is currently booming with locally owned shops and eateries.   Drive into town, park your car for the weekend and enjoy everything you could ask for in walking distance.  There are now multiple short term stay options, restaurants, shopping and entertainment options right around “the square.”

Spring on the square in Glasgow

Looking for a chef curated menu with seasonal specials, locally brewed beer and live music? You’ll find all of that at Yancey’s Gastropub and Brewery. We ALWAYS suggest the crab hush puppies and their asian salad – but we haven’t tried anything we didn’t love here.

Love concerts, shows by a hometown acting troupe, comedians and more? Check out the calendar of the historic Plaza Theatre. We laughed our way through “The Hallelujah Girls” by their local actors, the Far Off Broadway Players

Shopping your thing?  There are clothing boutiques. Vintage options. Personalized gifts. Lingerie. High-end and trendy gifts. During our weekend there, we visited Off the Square, Green Street Gifts, Rural Route Clothing Company, Vintique and more.

Ready for breakfast or lunch on Saturday at a place all the locals gather?  That’s George J’s on the Square – but move quick b/c they close at 1.

Enjoying coffee at the Glasgow City Creamery

Want to coffee shop hop?  That’s one of the funnest options we can think of.  We visited the Glasgow City Creamery, King’s Cafe and have been several times to The Fine Arts Bistro (don’t sleep on breakfast and lunch here as well.)

Looking for an old school steak place with a fresh salad and loaded baked potato? Little Taste of Texas is the spot for you.  They also offer other grilled items, sandwiches and more.

Inside the stunning Copper & Elk

And while there are multiple short term rentals available around the square in Glasgow, we stayed at Copper & Elk. This two bedroom, two bath renovation of a historic building’s second floor was simply stunning. What a jewel, with french doors and a small balcony overlooking the beautiful square.
