Food We Love in New Orleans
We have had so much food in New Orleans – here is what we have loved.
A Court of Two Sisters: the jazz brunch here is a must. It is in a dreamy courtyard covered in greenery, and there is jazz music playing as you sip mimosas and eat your brunch, which was eggs benedict for us. Reservations are highly recommended.
Ruby Slipper Café: this is a good, solid brunch spot with an extensive menu compiled of various egg, pancake, and french toast dishes, as well as some other classics, and a large coffee and cocktail menu.
Café Du Monde: a classic. There are beignets throughout New Orleans, but this is the traditional spot to grab them. Getting nighttime beignets and coffee or hot chocolate at the Jackson Square location is a good choice in our opinion.
Antoine’s Restaurant: this is claimed to be the oldest family-run restaurant in the country. We would recommend heading to this fancy spot for their classic souffle potatoes and a French 75. This is also the birthplace of Oysters Rockefeller, so if you’re a fan, this would probably be a spot you want to check out.
Mona Lisa Restaurant: this is an Italian restaurant with hundreds of different renderings of the Mona Lisa throughout. This is a delicious, funky spot on Royal Street that we loved for a big dinner.
The Carousel Bar & Lounge: This one is definitely for the experience. There is a small food menu and a large drink menu. We loved it for a snack of fries and a few drinks. We recommend getting there when they open for lunch for a little bit of a smaller wait. If you don’t want to sit at the bar, there are seats around it that you can get to with much less of a wait. We have more information about this one here.
