Glacier National Park

We rolled into the east side of Glacier National Park for a week-long stay and hit Going-to-the-Sun Road, Glacier’s famous road that connects the east side of the park to the west. It takes about 2 hours to get from one side to the other, and it includes a bunch of beautiful mountains and creeks so we had a lot of pull-offs. The Logan Pass Visitor Center is at about the halfway point of the drive. There is also St. Mary’s Visitor Center in the east and Apgar Visitors Center in the west.

We stayed in my truck camper in a campground near Apgar Village. Apgar is my favorite part of the park, the village sits right on the lake, but if I had to do it over I would probably split where I stay since it is such a long drive from one side of the park to the other.

One of our favorite things was visiting Polebridge, an unincorporated community on the edge of the park where the main attraction is the Polebridge Mercantile and Bakery. The only way there is driving down a small gravel road. If you keep going down the gravel road you will get to Bowman Lake which feels totally serene and private.

Some of the trails we hopped on were the Trail of the Cedars that goes to Avalanche Lake, the Hidden Lake trail, and the Highline Trail.

Some things to keep in mind are that Going-to-the-Sun Road requires reservations and the cell service is nonexistent.
