GoodLife Cafe & Bakery

When searching the internet for what to eat in Mendocino, GoodLife Cafe & Bakery came up again and again. It was clear that this was the place we had to go for breakfast. When arriving around 9:30 on a Saturday morning, we saw that it was clear to everyone else too. The wait was about 45 minutes for two, but you can order a coffee and pastry to accompany you. The lovely town of Mendocino made the waiting easy – overcast and temperatures in the low 60s was ideal to us when where we ventured from had been over 100 degrees and sunny for the duration of the summer. The wait also gave us time to look over the menu so when we were finally seated overlooking the street, we were ready to order. We went with the Veggie Lover’s Scramble, the Eggs Benedict with smoked steelhead, a cinnamon bun scone (!!!), and a spicy Mexican mocha and drip coffee to drink.

Let us tell you, the long wait was worth it. The scramble was packed with local veggies – broccoli, squash, and more; house-made jam came with the toast, the coffee was local, the smoked fish was perfect with the Benedict, and the cinnamon bun scone…wow. We had never heard of such a scone before and we will never forget it.

GoodLife if highly recommended for a reason. It is local, fresh, and high-quality. The wait might be long and after your order is taken, you might not see your server much anymore, but the food is all worth it. We will happily be added to the list of people that tell you that you have to eat here. Cheers!
