Grand Prix Plaza – F1

Formula 1 racing has carved out a home in Las Vegas, and when the billionaire teams aren’t racing in November, the facility and grandstand suites that host them transform into Grand Prix Plaza – an interactive museum and F1 experience lab.

Here, you can design your own race car and helmet, learn how to be part of a pit crew, and try your hand at changing a tire in seconds. There are high-tech F1 simulators that digitally place you right on the track, and F1 X puts you behind the wheel of a miniaturized “go-kart” version of an F1 race car, reaching speeds of about 30 mph.

If you’re a hardcore racing fan, this is a must-stop in Las Vegas. But even visitors with just a passing interest in Formula 1 will have an incredible experience here – and likely walk away as new fans.

Professional pit crews can change a tire in about two seconds. Lyssa and I managed it in ten…and felt like we had just won the Silver Cup.
