Joshua Tree National Park
The first time we visited Joshua Tree National Park, we felt like we were on a different planet. It was the first time we had ever really been to the desert and we were mesmerized. We loved it so much the first time that we were kind of hesitant going back – we didn’t want to lose the fun, otherworldly idea that we had of it.
Turns out we didn’t need to worry. It was still just as magical as the first time.
Here are somethings that we’ve done that we would recommend:
1.) Barker Dam Trail for historical points of interest such as petroglyphs. Big horn sheep are common here – we didn’t see any but better luck to you!
2.) Keys View for a super cool look at the San Andreas Fault.
3.) The Cholla Cactus Garden – no explanation needed
4.) Stargazing!
5.) We always hit up the Visitor Centers of National Parks to learn more about what we’re exploring. The park rangers are always super helpful and have great info too. One particularly helpful fellow at Joshua Tree even hand-drew us a map on a piece of paper – we felt like real treasure hunters.
Definitely check out Crossroads Cafe for a great breakfast in the area – they serve locally roasted Joshua Tree Coffee, don’t skip it!
