June’s Pizza

While in the Bay Area for the San Francisco Marathon, carbs were needed – and we found just the place. We were staying in Oakland, home to the cult-favorite June’s Pizza, so we decided to check it out.
Tucked inside a warehouse-style building next to a brewery, June’s is delightfully understated. The only signage was a piece of cardboard with the word “pizza” on it beside the door – and honestly, we loved that. Inside, the charm continued: a giant piece of cardboard served as the menu, with daily specials displayed in spray paint and marker. It’s all part of the vibe, and we were into it.
June’s typically serves just one or two pizzas at a time. On our visit, it was a classic Margherita with the option to add pepperoni. The pies were huge, so we ordered one with pepperoni on just half – a perfect choice, and we still had leftovers.
Even with a steady crowd, the food came out fast and fresh. The open kitchen, complete with massive pizza ovens and a visible prep line, adds to the experience. Each pie gets a finishing touch of freshly grated parmesan before it hits the table. Delicious.
We had such a great time at June’s Pizza and would absolutely recommend it if you’re in the Bay. Fast service, great food, a cool atmosphere, and even parking. Cheers to that!
