Kualoa Ranch
Kualoa Ranch protects, preserves, and immerses you in the beautiful landscape of Oahu. Owned by the same family for nearly 180 years, Kualoa Ranch has been a filming site for countless movies including Jurassic World, Kong, and Jumanji. Seeing this jungle environment’s green mountains overlooking the island-dotted bay, it was easy to understand why it’s been sought out to film these otherworldly stories.
It operates as a working ranch, raising cattle, oysters, shrimp, and a variety of produce. You can even snag some for yourself at their on-site market.
They have multiple different tour offerings including e-bike, ATV, horseback, boat, and truck. We opted for the Jungle Tour that took us in an open air truck through the lush landscape and up into the mountains. Along the way, our tour guide, Ken, taught us about the history of the property, Hawaiian culture, pointed out movie spots, and took us to spots with amazing views. If you would rather learn specifically about the movie sets or the farming operations, they have tours for that too.
Before and after our tour, we loved watching the farm animals near the gift shop. It was also a great spot for grabbing some souvenirs.
Kualoa Ranch was definitely a highlight of our time on Oahu.
