Lake Siskiyou

The sparkling blue waters of Lake Siskiyou are located in Mount Shasta, California. The lake is formed by Box Canyon Dam on the Sacramento River, and locals and visitors alike love its beaches and opportunities to get out on the water.

During our visit for the Headwaters Trail Run, which begins at the lake, we enjoyed the mile-long Lake Siskiyou Chalet Loop Trail. It is a narrow dirt trail that runs alongside the lake. All the trees provided great shade for a sunny June day. If you’re looking for a larger undertaking, there is also a 7-mile trail that loops around the entire lake. There are also many other trails nearby, making this a great area to explore.

Easy parking and bathrooms can be found near Box Canyon Dam. This is a lovely spot for a stroll, picnic, some time on the water, or to set out on a bigger adventure.
