Morris Island Lighthouse
The short trek to view the Morris Island Lighthouse, now decommissioned and a beacon landmark, was fairly sparse of people, so we were able to walk leisurely along the paved path chalked full of interesting graffiti. The paved path graduates into a narrow sandy trail up a very small hill that once you reach the crest you see the tip of the lighthouse pop into view. Since there were only a handful of people on the shoreline viewing the lighthouse, it was peaceful to walk along the water’s edge, climb over the rocks that broke the waves into swirling pools, and walk through the driftwood patch. We watched the pelicans dive into the water near the lighthouse and were ecstatic to see a pod of dolphins swimming gracefully over the small whitecaps of the waves.
