Through the years, we have enjoyed the Green River with dogs in many ways.  We have hiked the Jenny Wilson Byrd Hiking Trail that runs along the banks of the river from Munfordville to Johnson Springs, taken them on several hiking trails at Mammoth Cave National Park and even spent hours just playing with them along the edge of the waters.

We have also taken many four legged friends to Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo and Dutch Country Safari Park. Both parks welcome well behaved dogs on leashes, however dogs will have to sit out of the kangaroo experience in the outback. Dogs and kangaroos may not always mix so well. At Dutch Country Safari, they can ride the hayride to see many animals much  larger than them and hang out with small animals in the animal encounter areas as well.

While in Hart County you will also find pet friendly lodging at Horse Cave KOA and the Holiday Inn Horse Cave. There are also pet friendly short term rentals. All lodging options can be found here

Hart County wrote up their own pet itinerary that you can access here. They give you great details!
