Shelbyville’s Celebration of Lights

Shelbyville was looking like a Hallmark movie this year for their annual Celebration of Lights. The annual holiday event serves as the kickoff to the shopping season for the many locally-owned and operated boutiques and shops. The lighting of the town Christmas tree begins with a ceremony that includes an honest-to-goodness town crier and a joyful countdown from the community before the holiday decor comes to life — almost like magic! 

Local vendor booths were set up for five blocks along Main Street, from 3rd to 7th Streets and all along 6th Street. The Celebration is a great way to kick-off your holiday shopping, enjoy the best of a small town Main Street, and switch that gear in your head to holiday jubilation! 

We recommend going ahead and adding the Celebration of Lights event to your 2025 calendar. It’s always the second Saturday of November – looks like the 8th for next year.
