Soundwaves Indoor Waterpark at Gaylord Opryland Resort

Our family has a strong history of indoor and outdoor waterpark experience: King’s Island, Cedar Point, Holiday World, Dollywood, Wilderness at the Smokies, (many a) Great Wolf Lodge…the list goes on, and we enjoyed them all! I’m excited to report that the nicest waterpark (in my Dad opinion) has been Soundwaves at Gaylord Opryland Resort, Nashville. It’s far from the largest, but it’s the nicest, in my opinion.

The overall layout, design, and aesthetic here is superb. They do not have a confusing pile of tubes and pools on display and dripping on your head. Rather, the bulk of the waterslides are hidden, which leads to enhancing the anticipation and the fun payoff. They are just as large, just as fast as others we have encountered, but the “works” are all out of view. Also, there is no overwhelming chlorine or chemical smell at this waterpark. No sweltering, oppressive heat that makes you start to long for the chilled November air. A “better regulated” atmosphere than any indoor park we’ve encountered. It’s hard to put into words, but you just don’t feel “dirty” when you leave or while you are in it. Additionally, their Lazy River is big fun and anything but lazy! More jets move you along and at a faster clip than most we have experienced. Decent size, too considering this waterpark’s overall footprint is smaller than most. Our oldest son was obsessed with the Crowd Surfer body board flow rider. It’s a bit more of a wait than the slides, but what a payoff! So much fun. There is also more “adult” relaxing space here than any other waterpark we’ve been to, which was awesome. Soundwaves is upscale in the world of waterparks…and that’s by design. Now, this is an “add on” cost to your stay at Gaylord Opryland, admission does not come with the room, but if you are in the market for some indoor waterpark fun, especially in fall and winter months, you will be very pleased with Soundwaves at Gaylord Opryland Resort.
