Tanner’s Historic Cafe

Tanner’s Historic Cafe was a treat to stumble upon after a day on the road and in the penitentiary. Under new ownership in 2025, we got to sample their fresh menu and get a real vibe for what they are trying to create in downtown Wartburg. We had a couple of their sandwiches – absolutely delicious – as well as tried their salad trio appetizer. 

How good was it really you might ask?? So good that we asked for containers of their salads to take back to our short term rental! We wanted to have great snacks for ourselves and family that we knew we’d be entertaining as well. What a double win!

The new owners were so community focused that they wanted to make sure we knew about the block party happening next door so we could enjoy more of the town before we left. Which ended up being a fabulous feel for their community. 

They also fixed us up a delicious malt before we left. Nothing like some good chocolate syrup and ice cream to end the night.
