The Baker & the Cakemaker

We have happened into The Baker & the Cakemaker a few times now – some for cake, some for pastries, some for breakfast. If you’re looking for local flavors, this is a great options because everything is made from scratch in-house and they source from local farmers as much as possible.

Our favorite items from them have been their quiche, Brazilian cheese puffs, and chocolate caramel brownie cake (which unfortunately was a weekly special). We also love pairing whatever we get with a cappuccino.

Each time we have been, there has always been a line – this is a well loved spot. Most people are grabbing loaves of their sourdough bread, what they’re most known for and which we actually have yet to try, but may be necessary during our next Auburn exploration. There is some indoor and outdoor seating and we’re usually able to snag a spot.

The Baker & the Cakemaker is in a great location in Downtown Auburn, California. They’re within easy walking distance to a variety of shops – antiques, books, boutiques, health food, and outdoor gear to name a few.

You also have an opportunity to grab their delicious treats at the Old Town Auburn Farmers’ Market on Saturday’s from 8-12!
