The Dwell Hotel
The building where the Dwell Hotel exists was originally built in 1909 on the footprint of the grounds of Fort Jones, an old Union Fort of Chattanooga. Remnants of the fort’s stone can be seen on the exterior walls and throughout the hotel. Originally built as a hotel, it has remained so – through many iterations.
This boutique hotel offers 30+ rooms. We stayed in #30, their New Yorker, complete with soaking tub, walk-in shower, robes, super comfortable bed, and sitting area perfect for gameplaying by the fire. There was also a lovely balcony with city views to be enjoyed.
For a night cap – bedtime snack combo – we traipsed down their lovely wooden staircases to the Matilda Midnight bar at the hotel’s street level. We chose their grilled cheese panini and a pair of cocktails named simply “death.”
The hosting team at the dwell hotel was top-notch. Carol made sure we had everything we needed upon arrival, even starting the fire in the fireplace. The night keep, Mark, was full of knowledge about the history of the hotel and surrounding area. Plus he whipped up some fabulous scones for breakfast. The valet team made our arrival and departure seamless. This hotel could be an entire road-trip in and of itself. The vibes, the gathering spots, the comfort – it’s a high recommend from us.
