The World’s Longest Front Porch at the Grand Hotel

There are so many things to do on Mackinac Island and at the Grand Hotel but we couldn’t rip ourselves away from the front porch and the view! We took more photos from this spot than anywhere else on our trip! At 660 feet long, it’s the longest front porch in the world, and has been affording restorative and inspiring views of Lake Huron since 1887! If you are looking for the couple or family photo from your visit that will dominate for decades on your mantle…this is the spot. Nothing less than ICONIC. 100 rocking chairs stand ready to hold you in place for hours while you soak it all in. We were a week or two early for the full floral splendor, but the rail was replaced in 1927 with flower boxes for perennials and when the bloom, we are confident it’s a dream. Resort pro photographers are on hand, but honestly, you’ve got this! We were very pleased with our camera phone efforts, sampled here.
