Walnut Street Bridge Area
The Walnut Street Bridge is the quintessential community connector and centerpiece of all beautiful panoramas in Chattanooga. One of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world, it spans the Tennessee River and is a favorite location for locals to watch so many river centered events – like the annual Head of the Hooch regatta.
The bridge also connects many neighborhoods to the river’s south shore where several attractions, restaurants and local shopping can be found. In this area of the city you can catch a game with the minor league Chattanooga Lookouts, spend time watching the over 300+ species of aquatic life at the Tennessee Aquarium or travel across the shorter Holmberg Bridge to the Hunter Museum of American Art.
