Journals / Nevada / 3 Days in Las Vegas

When my wife Lyssa had a business trip to Las Vegas that lasted most of a week, we decided it only made sense for me to fly out and join her for a long weekend. Three days in Vegas turned out to be just about perfect – two days isn’t quite enough, and four days might have you ready to head home.

Getting there was easy thanks to a nonstop flight from Lexington, Kentucky on Allegiant Air. The direct route from the Bluegrass made the trip simple and convenient. I caught a Thursday evening flight, and with the three-hour time change, it worked out perfectly. By Sunday evening I was back home and ready for the week ahead.

We stayed right on the Strip and focused on two major experiences during our visit. The first was The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere, an incredible visual experience inside Las Vegas’s newest and most talked-about venue. The second was Grand Prix Plaza, where we explored the interactive Formula 1 museum and design exhibits – and even tried our hand at the F1 race simulators. Both were unforgettable highlights of the trip.

Along the way, we also enjoyed some fantastic places to stay and dine. Be sure to check out our Encounter journals for our stay at Paris Las Vegas and meals at Jack Binion’s Steakhouse, Eataly, and The Palm at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

We had an amazing time in Las Vegas. The team at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) helped us discover experiences we likely wouldn’t have found on our own, and their suggestions made the trip feel both well-planned and adventurous.
