Journals / Caribbean Islands / Aruba Highlights to Experience “One Happy Island”

When you visit “One Happy Island” it’s best to hold on to your hats, literally, because Aruba is a blustery vacation destination! Aruba is a small island in the southern Caribbean Sea, approximately fifteen miles north of Venezuela, with constant, year-round trade winds that blow from the northeast, acting as natural air conditioning for much of the island. Fun fact: Aruba is a flat desert (those palm trees are imported) and so the winds blow freely across the island. Think cactus, wild donkeys, and wild goats on one side of the island in juxtaposition to the white sand beaches and palm trees on the other.

The gambling and legal drinking age is a mere 18-years-old in Aruba, so pack a little extra fun cash for the experience at one of the twelve casinos peppered throughout the island but always drink and gamble responsibly!
