Cedars of Lebanon State Park is a beautiful state park with ten miles of hiking trails, comfy cabins and gorgeous camping spots. It is a haven for birders, disc golfers, splash pad enthusiasts and those who just want to take in the beauty of the park.
Staying at Cedars gives you many nearby towns to visit. We took in a show at Puckett’s Grocery in Murfreesboro, did some shopping and coffee sipping in Lebanon and also visited Bledsoe Creek State Park.
We didn’t realize how special it would be at the time, but we stayed at the Ricketts Historical Cabin at Cedars and it was perfect for two people. Built in the 1930’s, it has a small kitchen, one large room with bed and sitting area, and a bathroom.
On the road-trip to Cedars we also stopped by Gallatin for lunch at the Starr Ranch. We had their Tennessee BLT with fried green tomato and bbq biscuits with cole slaw. We aren’t seeing the biscuit dish on the menu – so it was probably a special. We noticed many great things in Sumner County and will have to make time to return.
This is such a nice part of Tennessee, with so many small towns to discover – and not far out of Nashville. Also just outside of Nashville, you’ll find an adorable pottery studio that welcomes visitors. We’ve written about Clay in the Woods here on our Tennessee Road Trips site. Just make sure you reach out to them for a studio time.
