Journals / California / Folsom
If you’re taking a road trip through Northern California, Folsom is worth pulling off for. This historic Gold Rush town has a lot to offer.
It is probably most known for Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” – yes, it is the same Folsom Prison and it is still in operation. Today, you can take the Johnny Cash Trail and visit the Big House Prison Museum.
Spend some time strolling through Historic Downtown Folsom – think charming brick buildings, boutique shops, vintage vibes, and great places to eat and drink (The Fat Rabbit and Riley’s on Sutter – yum!). There is also quite a nightlife here. If you’re in for a rowdy time, the Folsom Hotel can be really fun.
Folsom is a great spot to enjoy California’s natural beauty. We love the sparkling blue water at Lake Natoma.
From our experience, Folsom is one of those places that makes you want to stay a little longer than planned.
