Built in 1902, the West Baden Springs Hotel has gone through several transitions to be the luxurious, comfortable getaway it is today. Once considered the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, the building itself boasts a 200 foot dome and wowing atrium.
Our best suggestions are:
- Grab a room with an outdoor view for three reasons: it is a bit of a money saver, it feels quite a bit more secluded than a room with an atrium view, and we believe the light show at the top of the atrium each night is best viewed from the atrium floor on a green velvet chaise lounger, if you can find one free.
- Spend a couple of nights and never leave the property: make a reservation for Sinclair’s for your nighttime meal, make a reservation or two at the spa, lounge by the pools, soak in the hot tub, walk through the gardens, read on the veranda, peruse the library, enjoy a truffle or ice cream, meander through the on-site shops, take the rail trolley over to look around at French Lick where you can marvel at their interiors, gamble if you like and enjoy a meal at one of their restaurants.
