Mammoth Cave National Park

A must not miss when visiting Kentucky is Mammoth Cave National Park, home to the longest known cave system in the world. The Park is an International Biosphere and also a World Heritage Site.  The history is fabulous.  The surface activities are nationally lauded and of course, the underground adventures are “mammoth.”

The Green and Nolin Rivers Blueway, running through the park, is Kentucky’s first and only National Water Trail.  There are ten back country campsites to be enjoyed in the nearly 53,000 acres of land making up the park.  Plus there are also two campgrounds as well. Mountain bike and horse back riding trails are also included in the nearly 90+ miles of trails inside the park.

Along the trails, you’ll find creeks, remnants of those who lived on the park property when it was still individually owned and a wide variety of flora and fauna.
