Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park is forever tied to the community that sprang up to build one of the most impressive structures in the nation, the Kentucky Dam, which created the largest man-made lake in the Eastern United States. In the park, you will find cottages, the lodge, over 120 miles of trails, marinas and more – and yes, one of those trails will take you straight over the top of the dam.

While the lodge and marina are center pieces of this park (we love that the lodge has three resident turtles so don’t forget to stop and say “hi” when you’re in the lobby), Kentucky Dam Village is also home to what is known as the “granddaddy” of the Kentucky State Park golf courses.

Eagle watching is not be missed with over 200 mating pairs in the area. So when out on the beach, the trails, or enjoying the 160,000 acres of lake, keep an eye out!

The Harbor Lights Restaurant, located in the lodge, was absolutely delicious. Having breakfast and watching the sun rise over Kentucky Lake was the best way to start the day.

It is worth noting that this state park is right across the water from Land Between the Lakes(LBL.) There are many activities to check out in the area such as the planetarium at the LBL visitor center and bison viewing.

Happy travels!
