Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park has long held a special place in the hearts of our family. As our children grew up, we probably took four or five trips to this park alone.

Our kids learned boat safety on Pennyrile’s 56-acre lake. Many summer afternoons were spent at the lodge pool, playing golf, basketball and tennis together, fishing, hiking and relaxing around a campfire.

Pennyrile Lake is home to Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Crappie, and Largemouth Bass and can only be navigated by non-motorized boats. Loaner fishing gear may be borrowed from the front desk or boat dock. Don’t forget your Kentucky State Fishing license!

Some of the lakeside cottages are equipped with private docks for fishing and launching a canoe or kayak. The screened in porches of some cottages also provide lovely spots to spend some precious summer hours with a good book or board game.

There is BINGO each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Clifty Creek Restaurant – located inside the Pennyrile Lodge.

Canoes are also available to rent from the boathouse during the summer. There is an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts, and miles of trails, for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking as well.
