Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Park

Ready to fuel up your knowledge on those who have made Kentucky home? The staff and offerings at Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Park are top notch and we couldn’t recommend them more!
Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, the park contains 3 mounds built by Native Americans of the Mississippian culture. The park’s museum has actually been built atop a fully excavated mound and is full of archeological finds. As you enter the museum and walk along its boardwalk over the excavation itself, you can see many artifacts still displayed inside the mound.
The park also has a small trail into the wooded area of the park with many types of identified trees and flora. You can also walk on top of the mounds here!
The staff is knowledgeable and happy to assist with questions. They also offer many games that you can play that are based on the culture of the Native Americans who lived in the area. Ready to throw a spear with an atlatl? The staff can assist you make that dream a reality too!
There is a small fee to enter, see the museum, and walk the grounds.
If you’d like to camp near Wickliffe Mounds, we suggest camping at their sister park, Columbus-Belmont State Park, that is 30 minutes away.
