Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Park

Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Park contains 3 mounds made by Native Americans of the Mississippian culture. The park is located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. The park museum was built atop a fully excavated mound and is full of archeological finds. As you enter the museum and walk along its boardwalk over the excavation itself you can see many artificats still displayed in the mound.
The park also has a small trail into the wooded area of the park with many types of identified trees and flora. You can also walk on top of the mounds here!
The staff are extremely knowledgeable and happy to assist with questions. There are many games that you can play that are based on the culture of the Native Americans who lived in the area.
There is a small fee to enter, see park, and walk grounds.
If you’d like to camp near Wickliffe Mounds, we suggest camping at their sister park, Columbus Belmont State Park, that is about an hour away
