Christmas in Kentucky

Includes feature of the Wakefield-Scearce Galleries of Shelbyville

We’ve traveled Kentucky quite a bit this holiday season – tasking ourselves with the joy of reporting to you where all of the “holly and jolly” can be found. It has been a wonderful frenzy of glitter and smiles, well wishes and quiet moments as well. And as a spoiler alert we have this to say: we are now certain that the Christmas spirit is alive and jingling in every nook and cranny of our amazing Commonwealth.

With that being said, here’s just a hand full of our favorite moments from the road, in no certain order:

Christmas tea at the Rocky Hill Inn

Being an anticipated guest in someone’s home for the holidays is not as common as it once was, nor is having everything prepared from scratch for you with such precise attention to detail. The hospitality of the Edmonson County innkeepers here is note-worthy and thankfully this is an experience that can happen for you any day of the year – not just for the holidays. You can find all of their information at: RockyHillInnKy.com

The Christmas trees at Wakefield-Scearce Galleries

There are over thirty fully decked out Christmas trees, with the largest standing over twenty feet tall. This level of sparkle makes it the perfect time to experience the galleries in Shelby County.

Holiday pop-ups in NULU

Grab a drink and make a holiday candle? Yes, please. Chill with friends, surrounded by all of the tinsel, while Charlie Brown is playing on the big screen? Okay to that too!  If you’re looking for merriment and fabulous shopping – these Louisville experiences should be added to your list for sure. We spent some time in the Holly Lodge at Maddox & Rose Marketplace, plus enjoyed the vibes at Miracle on Market. (Logo of Santa riding a holiday unicorn reeled us in!) We also recommend making it a night by grabbing a room at the Hotel Genevieve (LOVED it) or friends also recommended the AC Hotel, so you prob can’t go wrong with either.

Shopping on little Main Streets of Kentucky

You won’t be surprised to hear that we haven’t met a Main Street or Broadway that we didn’t love. Here’s to all of the shopkeeps who have dazzled us with their displays and selections. Special shout outs to My Darling and Company of Versailles, Completely Kentucky of Frankfort and Green Street Gifts of Glasgow

Small town Christmas parades – Anywhere the community comes together to wish each other well for the holidays – count us in! And can we just for a minute appreciate all of the loving details that went into this one entry in the Horse Cave and Munfordville parades?  Definitely part of the charm in the small-town parade is the loving effort that goes into creating something for their communities to enjoy. We are heading to Cave City’s Christmas parade this weekend, so watch for more content to come!

Watching fresh wreath making at the Garden Patch

Wreath making is a family affair for this business and just a fun thing to be around. Plus their whole store was lovely, as the entire community.

Visiting Kentucky’s candy companies for Christmas treats

We visited Rebecca Ruth in Frankfort, Muth’s Candies in Louisville and the Serendipity Kandy Kitchen in Shelbyville. Taking home bourbon balls, Modjeskas and chocolate creams are a must for a Kentucky Christmas, right?

As always, thanks for reading along and following our road-trips. We appreciate that you are here.
